Why did a technician install a temporary cable?

If you encounter service problems and a technician identifies that the issue is with the buried line connected to your home, they will install a temporary line to ensure you get stable internet service. Once installed, you will then be placed on a priority waitlist to have your cable buried.

The burial of the new cable is provided at no cost. The burial process typically takes a total of 6-8 weeks to complete.

During this time, we will obtain permits, apply for utility locates if needed, and assign a burial contractor to do the work. It's important to note that burials are only performed from April to November when the ground is soft.

If a burial order is created during the winter when burials are not possible, we prioritize it based on the following criteria:

  • Burial order created on or before December 31 of the prior year or before February 1 of the current year: we'll complete the burial by June 30 of the current or next year.
  • Burial order created between February 1 and June 30 of the current year: we'll complete the burial within 6-8 weeks of the order creation.
  • Burial order created between July 1 and September 30 of the current year: we'll complete the burial within 6-8 weeks after June 30.

Please note that these timelines are subject to our ability to obtain the necessary permits and locates, and delays may occur if there is construction or other work in the area that prevents us from completing the work.
